Preschool Crafts for Spring Sunflower Hand print

Spring is in the air. Time to pull out some preschool crafts to decorate your home or classroom. Preschool Crafts for Kids to create. These spring crafts are complete with easy printable craft instructions. (and a picture for those visual learners). Spring crafts brighten up a classroom or home the extra bonus is that imperfection is just fine. The great thing is about Preschool Crafts is no one cares about showing glue or crooked edges, which makes it ideal for playing with techniques that might be new to your kids.

Hand print Sunflower Garden

Materials

• Scissors
• Yellow construction paper (4 or five pieces)
• a small picture of your child
• green construction paper (about 1 piece)
• Pencil

This is a fairly simple project but its likely you will have to help your preschooler cut the hand prints out.

What we did was allow the child to cut one hand print and then we cut out the rest. We allowed the child to glue the picture on and the stem. WHAT a sense of accomplishment when complete. This project is recommended for any child learning to use scissors under adult supervision.

What to do:

Trace your child's hand print on yellow. Cut numerous copies. (Use your original trace as a template unless your child loves to have their hand traced over and over.)

Cut a small circle from the scrap yellow to make a center. Glue all the hand prints to the circle to create petals.

Cut your child's photos in a circle to fit in the center of your hand print sunflower petals.

Cut long strips of green to create a stem. (We used pieces about 3 inches wide) however, you will need to adjust depending on your child's hand size and the place it will be displayed.

Cut several oval shaped leaves to apply to either side of the stem.

Allow time to dry before displaying.

Additional ideas include: adding real sunflower seeds to the center to create a textured surface. Adding detail to the petals.
