Christmas craft projects are definitely the fun way to spend a few hours during the holiday season, and Christmas ornament crafts make the best Christmas crafts. Not only does creating Christmas tree decorations get you in the spirit for Christmas, it also ensures that the ornaments on your Christmas tree are one-of-a-kind Christmas tree decorations unique to your and your family.

 

    Yep, it's a little more green this Christmas. Recycle a little and save a little by creating your own Christmas tree decor. Not only will you create priceless holiday memories, you will have treasures for years to come. Use old Christmas Cards, Wrapping Paper and of course, family photos to create heirloom ornaments. These were created for our Victorian Style Handmade Christmas Ornament party.

    Material needed for Photo Lid Christmas Ornament

    Materials Needed:

    * Frozen orange juice can lid
    * Antique Gold Spray paint
    * White Elmer's-type glue
    * Photo of your child or a loved one that fits in the juice can lid
    * About 6" of holiday ribbon
    * Hammer & Nail, wood block (for making holes)
    * two or three charms that represent something about your child
    * Spray acrylic (optional sealer to help keep it a lasting homemade christmas craft)

    optional: hot glue ribbon to the back (and skip the charms) OR make it a magnet.

    Instructions for your Christmas Ornament

    Instructions:

    Spray paint your lid front and back with antique gold spray paint. Let dry.
    (you could also gild it kits are sold at the craft stores)

    Cut the photo in a circle or small square to fit inside the juice can lid.

    With hammer and nail, punch holes into the lid, one on either side of the top (for ribbon to hang the ornament) and several along the bottom (to dangle charms). Place lid on wooden block when you do this!

    Lace the hanging ribbon at top.

    Add your charms to the button holes.

    Give as a gift (great to give to grandparents!) or hang them on your holiday tree. Have fun!
