Many people don't think about New Year's Crafts. But for little kids its a great time to get into the celebration. We do a New Year's Eve Noon day celebration they play all day and they can still make their bed time.

  • Party Hats - purchase stickers and sequins, and feathers to adorn your hat. How about a prize for the most outrageous hat?

Noise Makers - water bottles filled with bean make great noisemakers. Add some festive ribbon and lace to really make a celebration.
  • Paper plate Tamborines - these are a hit with the kids, especially when you add long strand of ribbon to them for dancing fun. Take 2 paper plates and decorate the bottoms of them with markers, crayons, tissue paper pieces, ribbons -- anything you have handy. Then put the two paper plates together so that the decorated bottoms are facing out. Begin to fasten the paper plates together by stapling around the outer edge. Once you have stapled three-quarters of the way around, pour some rice or beans into the middle. Then finish stapling the plates together, all the way around the outside edge so that no beans or rice can fall out. You can then decorate around the edges with ribbon or paper streamers, if you like. When you shake the plate it will make noise, just like a tambourine. You and your kids have just made a musical instrument!
  • Face Painting Fun: face paints are fun to create designs and images on your faces or a friends
  • Balloon Fun: Its not a party without balloons. We play balloon games. Everyone has a balloon tied to their leg and the goal is to pop the other's balloon without having yours popped. Another activity (much calmer) making faces on our balloons with stickers. Our third balloon activity includes the long balloons used to make balloon animals. We simply blow up a couple dozen for the kids to twist and play with.
  • Scavenger Hunt: This was a blast last year. We took pictures of various locations around the house. Close up - like the pattern in the couch. Then the kids had to follow the trail based on the pictures to find their surprise. (The movie we were watching that day) All kids could participate since it didn't require reading.
