How To Make Salt Dough Pumpkins Mix up the Salt Dough add the dry ingredents and then mix in about 1/4 cup of orange paint (depending on the brightness of the paint you might need less) Editor's note: I always allow the children to play with the dough for a while before instructing them on the pumpkin craft. It helps to mix the dough throughly. Roll dough in your hands to form different sized balls. Bake for approximately 2 - 2.5 hours. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely. For best results, allow to cool and dry overnight, or for at least 4 hours. Once dry use glue to attach foam stems (and leaves if desired) to your pumpkins. complete the look by painting the pumpkins with glitter glue. This is a simple 2 year old craft or 3 year old craft that's great for home or the classroom.
