Simple Pilgrim Hat

Supplies for your Simple Pilgrim Hat

Large heavy duty paper plate (we used Chinet plates)
black tempra paint
black construction paper
yellow construction paper
glue
scissors

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Start by painting the paper plate black and let it dry.
Cut a ring in the center of the paper plate. You will leave part of it attached. see the image above.

Folder the inner part of the plate upright to create the "top" of the hat.

If you are great with the scissor then you will simply have to bend the inner part of the plate forward slip over the child's head. If you are like me, you will need to adhere a piece of black construction paper about 8 inches by 8 inches to this inner section.
Out of a piece of yellow paper, cut a 2 inch by 8 inch rectangle "buckle" and glue it on the black paper where it meets the paper plate.
this craft is found all over the web its a long standing tradition in most 1st grade classes. I was able to find the graphic image to help explain the cutting process at kaboose.com
