This Valentine craft is a little more challenging, yet young children can still make these with some guidance.
YOU WILL NEED:
Paper Punch
Yarn
Tape
Clear Plastic Sheeting (overhead projector type thickness)
Construction Paper
Candy
Scissors
-
-
* Cut one heart out of the plastic sheeting and one heart out of the construction paper for each child.
* Lay a paper heart and a plastic heart together and punch holes along the outer edge.
* Cut two pieces of yarn for each child, making the yarn pieces 24" in length.
-
In Class:
* Give each child one plastic and one construction paper heart, two pieces of yarn, and some candy.
-
*Wrap a small piece of tape on the end of the yarn, this stiffens it and makes it easier for the kids to thread through the holes.
-
* Laying the two hearts together so the holes line up, start lacing them together.
-
* Start at the bottom of the heart, insert the thread into the bottom hole and leave a small tail hanging down. Thread the yarn up to the top curve of the heart, don't go all the way to the center. Thread the second piece of yarn, stopping it at the curve.
-
*Tie the yarn at the bottom of the heart into a knot.
-
*Insert candy into the heart and finish lacing it to the center.
*Tie the yarn into a bow at the top of the heart.
